Apr 10 12 2:36 PM	Tags : None Remove this ad I've been confused about this for awhile. But do drow have various eye colors or do they just have red eyes. I know it said Vierna (not sure if I spelled that right) had green eyes but it never mentioned any other drow having a specific (besides drizzt) eye color. So I assumed that they just have red eyes. They also glow red in the infrared spectrum... speaking of which do you know why drizzt's eyes glow purple instead of red in infrared? because as far as I know that the eyes of creatures that can see infrared glow red in the infrared spectrum.

Apr 10 12 5:33 PM	The normal eye color for Drow is red, to have yellow would denote some illness or poison; blue, violet, or green eyes would denote some sort of anomaly or heritage that is not of pure Drow, and usually denote human or surface-elven blood somewhere in the drow's ancestry. (as I told you on DeviantArt , about Drizzt's eyes, sometime ago). Various shades of gray, even amber and rose-hued eyes are not unknown. All drow eyes tend to grow redder when they are angry or upset. Quote straight from the 3.5 ed. Races of Faerun book : "They commonly have blood-red eyes, although pale eyes ( so pale as to be often mistaken for white) in shades of pale lilac. silver, pink, and blue are not unknown." BTW. Their hair don't have to be always white. The majority of drow have snow-white hair from birth, yellowing (if female) or graying (if male) and thinning with great age. Rare drow have naturally silver or copper-hued hair, although there are those who deliberately dye their hair silver (namely those who venerate Eilistraee, the Dark Maiden)

Apr 10 12 8:05 PM Arch-Analyzer	Matron Malice was the one with green eyes. Gromph Baenre has amber eyes. And why does Drizzt have lavender eyes in IR? Simple. BRASSSo: Because RAS Says So! If most drow eyes glow red in IR, then that would seem to mean that their eyes are glowing pretty hotly. If Drizzt's eyes only glow lavender in IR, then perhaps that means that his eyes are cooler than the average drow's. (Drizzt is cool, huh?) I have theorized that what allows drow eyes to glow in the dark and see IR is that perhaps their eyes shoot little infra-red energy beams, sorta like lasers, and these beams reflect off of nearby objects, and then shine back into the drow's eyes. Maybe Drizzt's optical infra-red beam emitters are a little weaker than the average drow's, and therefore they just don't glow as hotly or as brightly, only appearing lavender. (Recall how one of his sisters thought that maybe his purple eyes could be an indicator of weakness when he was a newborn? Right after Maya suggested that Drizzt might be blind, Briza got eager to kill the baby again. That's when we're told that drow don't tolerate any physical deficiency in children. Anyways, as I recall, many drow have differing eye colors when not viewing things in the infrared spectrum. What makes Drizzt fairly unique is that his eyes remain the same color when he switches over, whereas most other drow switch to red. also, lol@laser beams. ~ Let me understand. Lo	Remove this ad I've heard it mentioned somewhere that Drizzt has some surface elf ancestry, which filtered down through generations and possibly accounted for Drizzt's unique eye color. That, however, does not seem a sufficient explanation for why his eyes would remain the same color in the infrared spectrum. So that goes back to what B just said: the only answer is because RAS said so! Right on, right on. It's his ball, his court, his rules, I guess. It's all good to me, man.
