I was watching a TV program here tonight and it was about same sex couples having and raising a baby. One of the people on the show made a comment that same sex couples provide a 'suboptimal' arrangement to a hetero couple. So I made a poll here to see what you all thought. Of course it depends on the individuals involved, but for arguments sake, assume that in each case the parents are good people. So its more a question about whether the sex of parents helps/hinders in raising kids.

And please do tell me what's your basis for thinking homosexuality is not natural? The fact that it is found in other species much argues against it... Nature is natural thus you must be wrong yes? Even christianity has never said homosexuality is bad, only that sodomy is. so according to christianity lesbians are totally ok... as long as they don't do naughty things with toys with the bum section :P

Alright, so considering that there is no human being alive today -- or who has ever lived -- who is the direct result of homosexual intercourse, it stands to reason that homosexuality is in and of itself an unnatural occurrence. It is not and was not what Nature intended for the human race. A child can only have one biological mother and one biological father. The introduction of artificial insemination and test-tube babies are not how babies are naturally produced, thereby making either scenario just as unnatural as homosexuality itself. Therefore it is also unnatural for any child to have two daddies or two mommies in one household. This should not even have to be explained to grown men and women these days -- unless we're trying to say that common sense just isn't that common anymore, and we might as well start calling it rare.

Moreover, I don't think it's very wise of you, SoS, to start claiming what Christianity has said on this subject when clearly you know not of what you speak. In other words, you have not done sufficient enough research to make that claim. Because the Bible has indeed condemned the act of a woman lying with another woman, same as a man lying with another man -- because it was not what God, Who created Nature to begin with, intended. Once again, it is not natural. Both the Old and the New Testament have shunned this notion of homosexuality being a normal practice. So there's a lot to be said about sticking to what you actually know. In any case, I don't think you really want to go there at this point, or at any time in the foreseeable future, considering the level of animosity that most nonbelievers always seem to profess with regards to all things Biblical.

The fact that it is found in other species means nothing, except that it is found in other species. That is all. We are not dumb animals here. We are an intelligent species. We are the stewards of this Earth, commanded to "be fruitful and multiply." How are we supposed to do that if everyone suddenly turned gay? How or why should this even come close to being a legitimate debate in the first place, is what I'd like to know? Exposing an innocent child to this kind of twisted behavior is not only unnatural, but it is irresponsible and inconsiderate. It is setting a really bad example of what a real family should consist of. What reason would other children have for ridiculing the child (who is obviously not to blame for his/her circumstances) who has two mommies or two daddies at home, if it was perfectly normal to begin with? Yes, kids can be cruel to each other, and unfortunately they do have a nagging tendency to be just that for any given reason. But the blame in this case lies with the so-called parents, who obviously did not bring this child into the world through a consensual act between the two of them alone. Thereby same-sex marriage itself is not legitimate. It is a direct mockery of what was intended by the Creator, Who insisted that "a man shall leave his mother and his father, and cling to his wife"! Marriage is an institution ordained as Holy Matrimony between a man and a woman. Not man and man, or woman and woman.

But hey, if you don't subscribe to that, then that's your business. Who am I to try and convince you otherwise, right? I've stated my side in this on more than one occasion, and I have every intention of sticking to it. I will assume that each of you intend to do likewise. But what do we honestly hope to accomplish by continuously debating the issue, I wonder? I'm not going to back down from my views, and I don't think any of you will ever want to back down from yours, so... Logically speaking, I think the best thing any of us can do in this case is to just let it go. I mean we've already established that this is purely a matter of opinion, which everyone is entitled to. What more is there to be said or done about it?
