As I stated in my "what makes you smile" thread, I had been busily watching the Olympics.  The 14 gold for Canada is very important but I would  have to give a gold to the people of B.C., Canada, and the others who attended the games, also.  I had never been one to watch these games in their entirety, but this time I did, with a great deal of excitement whenever a Canadian won a medal, regardless of denomination..

 I was absolutely enthralled with  the spontaneity, jubilation and unabashed patriotism felt  and shown by the people of Canada. We Canadians, as stated several times during the games, have never been an overtly patriotic people; wearing our Maple Leafs on our sleeves so to speak, but the genuine love for our country, brought to fruition by the games on Canadian soil, was a privilege to observe and I am very proud of the efforts made by our athletes.  Frankly, all of the athletes from all countries performed to the best of their abilities and it was a pleasure to watch.

 I took in the last hockey game w/ my family and some friends;  my son was texting his dad during the game.    My daughter and I watched almost all of the speed skating events; my favourite, and she was as excited as I was.  We all watched the hockey games leading to the gold medal event.   Not only were the games a solidifying time for our country but they were also  an excuse for our  family to spend time with each other and to share in a mutual, monumental celebration.
