I'm sure this has been discussed ad naseum here, but I think it would be awesome to see everyone's favorite (good) drow have a long series of
video games patterned after the books. Everyone fantasizes about a movie being made, but I prefer an insanely detailed, almost free-roam type game made for PC
and consoles.
If I was in charge of developing the game I would make sure without question that the game engine employed would be the same one used in Assassin's Creed, with a huge amount of time going into developing the fighting style of Drizzt. Insane combos, blindingly fast combat, and of course stealth would all have to be used to relive all the epic stories we have read about for years.
The first game could be about a young Drizzt growing up in Menzo, combining the three books of the Dark Elf Trilogy, using his training with Zak and his time in Melee-Magthere as a tutorial walkthrough on the game's mechanics which leads up to the Grand Melee (Or whatever the "arena" type game they put on once a year was called) where you use all of your new skills to win the challenge and progress through the rest of the game and play out Drizzt's struggle to come to terms with the nature of his people and his desperate attempt to reach the surface, having the ending of the game be when you finally step out into the wind of the open outside world.
The rest of the games would be the same as you could play out stories of the Barbarian raid on Ten Towns, Crenshinibon, reclaiming Mithril Hall, the war against the Drow and Drizzt's return to Menzo, the Sea Sprite, traveling all the way to Calimport to rescue Regis, etc. All the while interacting with (And for a change of pace even playing as in some instances) Catti-brie, Wulfgar, Bruenor, Regis, Pwent, Cadderly, the Bouldershoulders, the Harpells, Duedermont, Jarlaxle and Bregan D'aerth, and of course crossing blades with Artemis Entreri.
I don't know why I have been thinking about it all day and how awesome it would be to play as Drizzt through his many amazing adventures, but I felt I needed to get it out of my system and get some of you guys' opinions and ideas too.
So how would you design a Legend of Drizzt video game?
