Now I don't know why people keep getting the bright idea that the destruction of the world as we know it can be pinpointed to a specific date. But I'm positive that nobody on this planet is actually capable of doing that! The above link discusses the possibility of some rogue planet crashing into our own on December 21st of this year, along with some other theories that have been refuted. I say it makes no difference at all that some believe in a specific date, and that others don't, because the world will end and begin anew when the time comes -- a time which only the Creator, providing there is one, could possibly know for certain.
Not even the Christian Bible provides answers to any specific time frame in which our world will end. In fact, it states quite clearly that "no man knows the day or the hour, not even the angels in heaven." With that said, I still cling just as firmly as ever to my belief in the existence of spiritual being we refer to as God, but organized religion as a whole has pretty much left me with a sour taste in my mouth over the years, to the point where I'm no longer interested in actually attending "church" anymore. And I think that's all that needs to be said about that.
As for people's predictions based on the Mayan calendar, I just basically close my eyes and blow out a tired and disgusted sigh. Then I go on about my daily routines. Same goes for followers of the prophecies of Nostradamus. Yes, there seems to be some validity to some of which he said, whereas other predictions have not actually come to fruition. Or at least they haven't according to the interpretations of some of the scholars who tried to make sense of these prophecies.
All in all, I say whatever, dude. You know? When our time comes, it just comes. I don't see any sense whatsoever in arguing the points that so many have put forth anymore, including those from various denominations within the Christian faith. It just is what is, because it can't be what it ain't, is what I always say. Why argue about these things, or waste time speculating about specific dates and madness? *shakes head*
