Heres the thing, im trying to find local DND groups
Reason: all my friends are/were MeatHeads- [i.e. strongmen/powerlifting/bodybuilders] because my whole life has revolved around the gym... then i got married and lost my friends alltogether... NOW im getting divorced and have NO freakin social outlet >:[

So... I finally went and bought the new fourth edition of D&D. There's plenty of stuff that irritate me quite a bit in it but the manuals are more user friendly from what I can tell now. I hate the layout though. It looks so kiddy and childish. I much prefer the style they chose for 3rd edition manuals.
In the end I'll most likely make some pretty heavy handed modifications towards the 3.5 rules that I liked. Any experiences from any of you yet?

I must admit. I love Dnd. I always loved the role-playing games. One thing though, I'm bad with math. I'm also bad with keeping a billion different numbers and exceptions to those numbers in my head. Many a battle have I run where I realized that the dwarf would have hit if I remembered his +1 against goblins, or that an npc should have moved last instead of first because his dexterity dropped due to a spell.

I made this topic because I want to shout out how much I hate how a level 20 mage could kick a level 20 fighter's butt anyday. With the new fourth edition out, it's nice to know that wizzys are not too strong anymore but it also kind of stinks because we like mages a bit, we just don't like all the epic characters who are well known to be mages. If you think about it, there is no really strong and famous guy (by famous, I mean as famous as Elminster or Khelbun, for example) who...

hey guys whats up?

well i obviously have a question so here it goes.

where can i get free D&D begginner modules.

I have looked on www.wizards.com but i cant seem to find any free D&D modules.

All they have are AD&D modules and im just begginning.

I am the DM for the group and I am too lazy to make up my own maps and stories so i really need to find out where i can get the modules.

ok im am officially an idiot. i asked my parents to buy me the d&d players kit not knowing that it doesnt actually have the game. tommorrow im going out to buy it but i was just wondering. it says the d&d basic game already has characters to play with. can you play the basic game with characters you already made up???

o and where can i buy the second installment of d&d?

one more thing. is the basic game considered the first installment of d&d??
